Brennan McDavid is an Assistant Professor in the philosophy department and the Smith Institute for Political Economy and Philosophy at Chapman University. McDavid's research specializes in ancient ethics, epistemology, and political economy. McDavid's work has been published in scholarly journals such as Polis and the Plato Journal. McDavid's published papers include Plato and the Psychology of Money, Plato’s Market Optimism, and Meddling in the Work of Another. Before her time at Chapman University, McDavid was the Seymour Reader in Ancient History and Philosophy at Ormond College in Melbourne, Australia. McDavid holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Princeton University, an M.A. in classical philology from the University of Arizona, and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
