Paul Schwennesen

Paul Schwennesen is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Ph.D. candidate in 16th-century history at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. Schwennesen holds degrees in History and Science from the United States Air Force Academy where he graduated with distinction as the John R. Rupp scholar in interdisciplinary studies. Schwennesen served six years as an Air Force Officer including a combat-zone deployment to Afghanistan and was named Company Grade Officer of the Year. After leaving the military to pursue private business. Schwennesen has built a prosperous beef business in Southern Arizona and is the director of the Agrarian Freedom Project. Schwennesen earned a Master's degree in Government from Harvard University where he did his thesis under the direction of Harvey Mansfield. At the University of Kansas, Schwennesen earned the Environmental Sustainability award. is a semi-regular contributor to the Property and Environment Research Center, and his writing has appeared in The New York Times, American Spectator, Stockman Grass Farmer, Law and Liberty, and in textbooks on environmental ethics published by Oxford University Press. Schwennesen's research has appeared in journals such as Regulation, a quarterly periodical about policy published by the Cato Institute.
