Rob York
Pacific Forum
Rob York is Program Director for Regional Affairs at Pacific Forum. He is responsible for editing Pacific Forum publications, including the weekly PacNet series, the triannual Comparative Connections journal, and the in-depth Issue & Insights series. York earned his B.S. in Mass Communication from Southern Adventist University and his M.A. in Asian Studies and Civilization from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a masters thesis in the reform of South Korea's industrial conglomerates. Before joining Pacific Forum, York served in a variety of roles in Asian news, such as Copy Editor and Reporter for the Korea Herald, the Chief Editor for News and Features at NK News, a news publication covering political and cultural developments in North Korea, where he is still a regular contributor, and Production Editor at The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. York is additionally a Ph.D. candidate in Korean History the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he also served as a Graduate Assistant. York has published several academic, and commentary articles on inter-Korean and Hong Kong affairs in news publications such as The South China Morning Post, War on the Rocks, think tanks such as the Foundation for Economic Education, Korean Studies, and academic journals such as The Journal of American-East Asian Relations. York's research at Pacific Forum involves trade and its relationship with security, media analysis, countering disinformation, and human rights.
