Walter Castro

Walter Castro has been a Professor of Graduate and Postgraduate courses for more than 20 years at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina (UCA Rosario), where he also coordinates the Department of Economics. Castro additionally serves as Vice President of the Fundación Libertad de Rosario, being in charge of the Institution's Department of Academic Affairs, and is a Professor of Economics in the Graduate Course in Agribusiness, and works as coordinator of the “Ideas de Libertad” Program, co-organized with Liberty Fund. Furthermore, Castro has nearly three decades in specialized journalism; he currently hosts a daily radio program “El Regreso” (Return) on CNN Radio Rosario, and participates weekly as economic columnist for a television program broadcast by Cablevisión. In 1992, Castro co-founded “Castro y Fernández”, a consulting firm specialized in advising and reengineering business companies. Castro was also a Founding Member of the Tax Studies Forum, and is currently a Member of the Society of Ethical Studies of Rosario, the Mont Pelerin Society, and the Adam Smith Society. Castro's research revolves around the complexity of social order, specifically manifested in the disciplines of economics, sociology, law, and morality. Castro earned both his Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Economics from ESEADE Universidad. Castro additionally holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Universidad del CEMA. Castro's doctoral thesis was titled “Moral Markets: A Marginalist Reading of Adam Smith's Theory of Moral Sentiments. Implications for Political Economy”.
